Get ready
Everything here is optional. Use whatever helps, and ignore the rest.
Before you book
How long do I need?
Six quick questions give you a session length, a price and a prep list.
Before your session
What suits my voice?
Four questions pick two of our mics for a shootout at the start of your first session, and a few songs to bring.
Warm up your voice
A seven-minute routine with a mic level meter and a range test, so you arrive ready to sing.
Lyric and take sheet
Plan your parts, tick off takes and note your best ones. Bring it to the session.
Coming to the studio
Bringing your own laptop?
Plug straight into our interface. Install the Audient iD software (about 24 MB) before you arrive, then restart. We supply the cable; your laptop needs a USB-C or Thunderbolt port. No USB-C? Ring us before the day.
Sending us files
Are my files ready?
Drop in your beat or stems and we spot clipping, loud masters and mismatched stems. Nothing is uploaded.
After your mix
Mix notes guide
How to listen to your mix and write notes that get the right change first time.
Release checklist
From finished song to Spotify, in order: files, artwork, distributor, royalties and release week.
Just for fun
Why does a mix matter?
Play The Mix Desk: a short game on an old-school desk that explains balance, EQ, compression and reverb. Sound on.
