About this site
Accessibility statement
How we are making this website usable for everyone, and what still needs work.
Our aim
We want everyone to be able to use this website, including people who use screen readers, magnifiers, a keyboard or voice control. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What we have done
- The site works with a keyboard, and the place you are on is always visible.
- Text and controls are designed for good contrast, in both the dark and light versions of the site, which follow your device setting and can be switched with the light and dark button.
- The layout adapts to phones, tablets and large screens, and text can be enlarged without losing content.
- Photos have descriptions for screen readers.
- Audio and video players can be used with a keyboard and have visible labels.
- Animations stop or reduce if your device is set to reduce motion.
- Booking and gift voucher forms have clear labels and error messages.
What we know is not perfect yet
- The studio tour, the before-and-after photo slider and the session timeline are visual and interactive. Their content is also written out in plain text on the page, but we are still improving how they work with screen readers.
- The moving waveform at the top of the home page is decorative and is hidden from screen readers.
- Videos of the studio will have captions and a transcript when they are added.
- This site has not yet had a full audit by an external accessibility specialist [update this once it has].
If you need something another way
If you find a problem, or need information in a different format, tell us at sam@freehousemusic.co.uk or ring 0117 9555 236. We can take a booking by phone or email, and we will reply within [5] working days.
If you are not happy with our response, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service.
Visiting the studio
The studio is at The Old Malthouse, Little Ann Street, Bristol, BS2 9EB. It is in an old building, and unfortunately it is not wheelchair accessible and has no step-free access. This is a feature of the building and there is nothing we can do to change it. We would rather tell you before you travel than after.
If you cannot use the studio, there are still ways to work with us. Mixing and mastering can be done entirely online: you send your files, we send back the mixes through your Mix Room, and you can review and comment from anywhere. Ring 0117 9555 236 or email sam@freehousemusic.co.uk and we will talk through what is possible, including recommending another studio if that suits you better.
